A Journey Like Us 

This project features the portraits of high school students. Many of them are from immigrant backgrounds. In 2015, they were attending either Early Middle College at GTCC or Northeast Guilford High School in central North Carolina. The county they are from has over 120 languages spoken in the home and the school system has become a majority minority student body. Supported with 2 grants from the NC Arts Council, this project produced several books and exhibitions that allow these students from wide backgrounds to share what they wanted teachers and others to know about their struggles and joys. A copy of the initial book was given to every new teacher and to every administrator in the county. A second edition will be published and made available nationally.
